| The settlement is found on a little beach located at the southern breakwater's internal coast, near its beginning. This Reserve's primary objective is to protect the sea lion ‘of one hair’ (also known as South American sea lion). It is a fact to be distinguished that in 1994, this specie was declared Natural Monument of Mar del Plata. The more outstanding characteristic of this cologne is the existence of male specimens only, what qualifies it as “unique”. It is characterized by being a continental cologne constituted by 800 males approximately, which mate on the Uruguayan coasts. They can be observed during the whole year from a very short distance. |
